How to store the repositories outside of the webapps

  1. Create directory /opt/repositories
  2. Create directory /opt/repositories/author
  3. Create directory /opt/repositories/public
  4. Copy {Author_WebApp}/repositories to /opt/repositories/author
  5. Copy {Public_WebApp}/repositories to /opt/repositories/public
  6. Modify {Author_WebApp}/WEB-INF/config/default/repositories.xml: replace
    repositories/magnolia
    with
    /opt/repositories/author/magnolia
so that the param repositoryHome points to the absolute path of your new repository.
  7. Modify {Public_WebApp}/WEB-INF/config/default/repositories.xml: replace
    repositories/magnolia
    with
    /opt/repositories/public/magnolia
so that the param repositoryHome points to the absolute path of your new repository.
  8. Start Magnolia and enjoy

Notes: "/opt/repositories" in steps 1-8 can be replaced with an absolute path of your choosing. For example, in a Windows installation, "/opt/repositories" might be substituted for "C:\repositories" or "\\servername\repositories" where it appears on this page.
