createdb <databasename>
destroydb <databasename>

Ingres supports hot backups

Activate Journaling/First Backup

ckpdb +j magnolia

+j activates journaling (re-applayable changes since last backup)

Regular Backup/Checkpoints

ckpdb magnolia

Note: the backups are stored in the checkpoint directory

rollforwarddb magnolia

-j: to exclude the journal (don't re-apply the changes after the moment of backing up)

  • you should also backup the system database IIdbdb
  • also backup the data store (jackrabbit) if maintained in the filesystem

Visual UI

The visual UI is only available on Windows but remote connections are supported. They get currently ported to Java and hence will be available for all platforms.
